Volunteering with Achilles is not only about supporting disabled athletes in a workout, but also witnessing the joy in achieving an athletic goal. I had the chance to be a part of this journey for numerous athletes, from young children just realizing their athletic passions to retired runners rediscovering this hobby. The experience has taught me countless lessons on the importance of community, the strength of human resilience, and the impact sports can have on a person’s confidence. Achilles is a truly unique organization: it provides athletes with the opportunity to train with experienced runners and volunteers the ability to be a part of something fulfilling and fun - I feel fortunate to be a part of it.
